Amazon.com has launched a new iPhone app that lets users browse and purchase items from the e-commerce site.
The free app, dubbed Amazon Mobile, also includes feature known as Amazon Remembers, which lets users snap photos of things they might want and store those pictures on the app and the Amazon.com Web site.
"If the item you want to remember is a product, Amazon Remembers will even try to find a product similar to your photo for sale on the Web," according to Amazon. "If we do, we'll send you an e-mail alert and post the result along with the photo."
Beyond Amazon Remembers, the app works much like the actual Web site. Want to know if an item you see in a store is cheaper online? Browse items offered by Amazon and its third-party retailers, and purchase things right from the iPhone. Wish lists, existing shopping carts, order history, and other features are also available through the app.
Amazon Mobile is available for the iPhone and iPod Touch from the Apple App Store.
