The Phoenix has brought a rebirth of sorts for Marvel Comics.

First, though, Captain America, Iron Man, Wolverine and the rest of the heroes just have to survive the last issue of Marvel Comics' summer event series Avengers vs X-Men.

Out Oct. 3, the 12th and final chapter pits Avengers and X-Men alike against former X-Men leader Scott Summers (aka Cyclops), who's been possessed by the destructive force of the Dark Phoenix -- the malevolent negative aspects of the Phoenix -- during his quest to make the world safer for his fellow mutants.
